Detectives are investigating a report of a firearms discharge in Newbold Verdon last night. Officers were called to an address in Brascote Lane shortly before 10.40pm on Tuesday (9 June) following a report that gunshots had been heard. In the interest of public and police safety, armed officers were deployed. On arrival at the scene, damage was found to have been caused to a property and a car parked on the driveway which were consistent with a firearm having been discharged.

A Police cordon is in place in a Leicestershire village following a reported shooting last night. Residents in the area reportedly heard three gunshots at 10.29pm yesterday evening. We have contacted Leicestershire Police for more information on this incident. Brascote Lane is currently closed for investigation work.
