Bridge refurbishment and resurfacing works to start on Ocean Road
A Major programme of bridge works and highway improvements is set to begin on Ocean Road next month, thanks to funding from the UK Government. Leicester City Council will start work on the Ocean Road bridge on Tuesday 1 September, with the whole scheme expected to take around 16 weeks to complete. The bridge over the Bushby Brook requires extensive maintenance to repair and replace sections that are now in poor condition. The works will include the demolition and replacement

Car flips and overturns onto central reservation in Blaby.
Winchester Avenue in Blaby is currently closed both ways this morning due to a road traffic collision involving 2 cars. A car has overturned after a collision and ended up in the central reservation on a busy road. Eyewitnesses say that local workers from the nearby industrial estate helped out the driver of the overturned car, and state that he has been taken to hospital. The road remains closed for recovery to take place. Please find alternate routes.

Saffron Lane is currently closed due to a Road Traffic collision
Emergency services are dealing with a Road Traffic collision on Saffron Lane near the junction of Knighton Lane East. A car has hit several parked vehicles and ended up on its side. Members of the public assisted in righting the vehicle back onto its wheels. There are no reports of any serious injuries. The road is closed in both directions; please avoid the area if possible.
