Third firearms discharge in Glenfield linked to ongoing investigation

Police report that there is no evidence of an increased threat to the public following three firearm incidents in Leicester in recent days.
A third firearms discharge is being investigated by detectives and linked to two previous reports.
Detectives have an ongoing investigation into firearms discharges which happened in Cort Crescent, Braunstone on Tuesday 2 June and Brascote Lane, Newbold Verdon on Tuesday 9 June.
During both incidents, damage was caused to the properties consistent with a firearm having been discharged. A car was also damaged in Newbold Verdon. No-one was injured in either incident.
Extensive enquiries continue to be carried out into this investigation and as part of those enquiries, armed officers attended an address in Station Road, Glenfield yesterday evening (Thursday 11 June).
Damage was found to have been caused to the property consistent with a firearms discharge.
Following an initial investigation, it is believed the incident happened at around 9.50pm on Tuesday night (9 June) and was not reported to police at the time.
A scene preservation remains in place as an examination of the scene continues to be carried out.
A 40-year-old man arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to possess a firearm with intent to endanger life has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
Two women aged 34 and 36 have also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and since released under investigation.
Detective Inspector Louise Rooke, from our Complex Investigation Team (CIT), said: “Our investigation into the previously reported firearms discharges in Braunstone and Newbold Verdon has been moving at pace with significant enquiries being progressed.
“As a result of this, armed officers attended an address in Glenfield which later uncovered a third firearms discharge.
“We are linking this to the two already under investigation as we strongly believe that all three offences are being targeted at and carried out by individuals known to each other as part of an ongoing dispute.
“This is concerning, and we appreciate those living locally to these incidents may be worried however there is nothing to indicate a heightened risk to the public. We have a team of detectives and resources dedicated solely to this investigation and all lines of enquiry are being quickly accessed and swiftly pursued.
“Local officers across these neighbourhoods remain on patrols to provide reassurance patrols and they are approachable to discuss any concerns you may have.
“Incidents of this nature, although extremely serious, are a rarity on our streets and we remain dedicated to tackling such criminality and locating and arresting those responsible.
