Fire crews from across the county tackle a blaze at Thurmaston Shopping Centre

Fire crews from across the county are currently tackling a blaze at the Thurmaston Shopping centre this morning.

Fire Service received multiple calls at 4am to reports of a large fire at Thurmaston Shopping Centre affecting several units.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue service currently have 8 fire engines, 2 Aerial appliances and over 40 firefighters in attendance.

There is a significant smoke plume and local residents are being advised to keep windows and doors closed.

The main car park is expected to be closed for some time.

A road closure is also in place on Barkby Thorpe Lane.
