On the night of Thursday, August 14th, several fire crews responded to a fire requiring eight pumps and additional special appliances. The incident took place in Battram Village near Coalville and involved approximately 25 acres of grassland and scrubland. Firefighters exerted tremendous effort to stop the fire from spreading to nearby homes, with assistance from a group of local farmers using tractors and water bowsers.

Fire crews are currently tackling a wildfire of approximately 10 acres, off Burton Road near Melton Mowbray. Five fire crews plus a water carrier are at the scene. Please avoid the area of possible. Local residents should avoid the area and close windows and doors to avoid smoke inhalation.

A blaze has taken hold of a church in Leicester city centre. A coffin with a body prepared for a funeral service was saved from a significant fire at a church over 160 years old. A Message from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue service - If you go down to the woods today - bring a picnic, NOT a barbecue! Yesterday our crews from Coalville Station were called out to a fire at Grace Dieu Woods, outside Thringstone, caused by a disposable barbecue that had been left unattended. Thankfully the fire was brought under control before it could spread too far, but we have returned since, and will be going back again today to make sure the fire doesn't restart, su
