The family of a motorcyclist who died following a fatal collision in Narborough Road South last month have described him as a ‘source of pure delight and unconditional love’.

Mathew Mitchell, 57, was riding his Kawasaki ZX10 motorcycle when it was involved in a collision with a red Tesla Model 3 on 30 September.

Mr Mitchell, from Sapcote, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

No other injuries were reported and no-one was arrested in connection with the incident. Enquiries by our Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are continuing.

In a statement Mr Mitchell’s wife, Diana, said: “How do you put a lifetime of love into words? Mathew was my partner, my best friend and the heart of our family.

“To me, he was a loving husband whose support and warmth filled our lives with joy. To our three sons, he was a steady guide, an inspiration, and a father who gave them everything they needed to grow into the fine men they are today. To his twin grandchildren, he was a source of pure delight and unconditional love.

“The love he built, the values he instilled, and the legacy he leaves in our family will never fade. We will miss him every single day, but we will carry his spirit with us always.

“We want to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who came to Mathew’s aid following his tragic accident, from the members of the public who stopped without hesitation to the paramedics, police and first responders who fought endlessly to save him.

“Your dedication, kindness, and selfless humanity during the worst day of our lives will never be forgotten.”
