Two people have been taken to hospital following a police pursuit

Two people have been taken to hospital after a Leicester crash following a police pursuit this morning on Loughborough Road.

Police reported that the incident occurred earlier this morning (Wednesday, 4 November), when they encountered a VW Passat in Leicester city centre that drove away from them.

As the vehicle moved through the city, a police pursuit was authorised.

The pursuing officers lost track of the vehicle, which was later discovered around 11.25 am after it had been involved in a collision with another vehicle, an Audi A5, on Red Hill Way.

Leicestershire Police reported that two individuals in the Audi were taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

According to a spokesperson for the force, the two individuals in the Passat left the scene before officers arrived. The road was closed while emergency services responded but has now reopened.

Officers said enquiries into the incident are continuing.
