Eight fire crews attend a field and scrubland fire near Coalville
On the night of Thursday, August 14th, several fire crews responded to a fire requiring eight pumps and additional special appliances. The incident took place in Battram Village near Coalville and involved approximately 25 acres of grassland and scrubland. Firefighters exerted tremendous effort to stop the fire from spreading to nearby homes, with assistance from a group of local farmers using tractors and water bowsers.

It’s the third heatwave of the summer with no rain expected and we’re seeing people use much more water for longer periods than usual, and whilst we don’t have any restrictions in place, we’d really welcome everyone’s support to be mindful of water use.
