Remembrance Day plans for North West Leicestershire
North West Leicestershire will remember and reflect on the sacrifices of fallen soldiers at a Remembrance Day service and parade on Sunday 8 November.

This year there will also be two displays comprising over 8,000 knitted and crocheted poppies on Memorial Square in Coalville, and at Coalville Library.
The poppies have been donated by people from across the district, as well as local school children, as part of the council’s Project Poppy campaign.
The Coalville Remembrance event, which is always well supported by the public, is organised by North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC) and the Coalville Remembrance Partnership.
To accommodate the parade along Hotel Street and High Street, a road closure will be in place on Sunday 8 November from 10am to 12pm. Road users are advised to plan ahead and use alternative routes during this time.
During the two-minute silence, poppy petals will be released from the top of the Memorial Clock Tower to honour of those who served and currently serve in the armed forces.
Other services and events to mark Remembrance:
The Poppy Appeal will be officially launched by the Royal British Legion at the War Memorial in Coalville on Saturday 24 October at 11am
A number of other parades and services are to be held in North West Leicestershire over the weekend with information available from parish councils or local churches
Working with town and parish councils and local businesses, NWLDC has also added poppy ground stencils in communities in the district to raise awareness of the Poppy Appeal.

Councillor Tony Gillard, the council’s Armed Forces Champion, said:
“Remembrance Day is a chance to stop and reflect on the sacrifices made by those we have lost, and to show our gratitude to members of our armed forces who are currently serving in conflicts across the globe.
“Our Coalville Remembrance parade is always very well support by the public, and I am sure we will see a great turnout again this year.
“I’d also like to offer my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has donated handmade poppies for our displays. The response has been incredible.”
