Police including specially-trained officers – have today (Thursday 20 May) remained at the scene of a protest being held at the Meridian Business Park.
Officers were called shortly after 5.30am yesterday to a report that a group of people were on the roof of business premises.
The group remain on the roof and police have continued to maintain an open dialogue with them. A further protest has also been taking place on the ground and has been facilitated in a peaceful manner.
The force is aware of a further planned protest in Scudamore Road, off New Parks Way, tomorrow (Friday 21 May) as it is believed a company linked to the one at the Meridian Business Park may be based there.
Officers have engaged with business owners in Scudamore Road and can confirm they are not linked in any way.
Assistant Chief Constable Kerry Smith said: “I would again like to thank the public for their patience and understanding while this protest continues.
“Officers have been engaging with the group and will continue to do so while they remain in their current position.”
