Police issue update on investigation into serious assault in Thurnby
We would like to provide the local community in Thurnby and wider public with an update on the investigation into a serious assault last week.

Just before 12.30am on Thursday (8 October), police were called to a house in Station Road, at the corner with Somerby Road, following a report two masked men had entered and attacked the occupants.
A father and son – a man in his 50s and a 15-year-old boy – were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. They are both continuing to receive specialist treatment but are in a stable condition.
Their wife and mother – a woman in her 40s – suffered minor injuries during the incident. Three other children who were in the address were not injured.

Officers from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU) and Leicestershire Police have carried out extensive enquiries in the area to search for anything that could identify and locate the people responsible.
There is nothing to suggest that the incident was racially or religiously motivated at this stage.
Officers would like to provide reassurance to the local community that they do not believe anyone other than the two people who entered the house were responsible.
Detective Inspector Lorna Granville, from EMSOU, is leading the investigation. She said: “Our searches in the surrounding area are now complete and we are continuing to carry out further enquiries to locate those responsible.
“While I can’t go into specific details, I’d like to reassure residents that the investigation is progressing significantly and specially trained officers are continuing to support the family involved.
“At this stage in the investigation, we have no information to suggest there is a wider risk to the public.
“I’d like to thank everyone who contacted us with information. I’d also like to acknowledge the work of colleagues from Leicestershire and across the region for their work during this investigation.
“If you can help, it’s not too late to come forward with any information or footage that could assist us.”
