Man stabbed in Leicester

Officers are appealing for information after a man was found with stab wound injuries following an incident in Gipsy Lane, Leicester, this evening (Monday).


Officers were called to the area at 9.18pm today (Monday) following a report that a person had been stabbed.


Police attended the scene where the injured man was found. East Midlands Ambulance Service were also in attendance at the scene and the man has been taken to hospital.


A 42-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of wounding.


A police cordon remains in place in the area and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident.


Detectives are appealing for anyone with any information to make contact with police.


Detective Inspector Deb Hubbard said: “Our enquiries are in the very early stages as we establish what has happened but we do know that a number of people were at the scene of the incident this evening. We also understand a number of people may have recorded footage.


“Our officers remain in the area speaking with witnesses and gathering information but we are appealing to anyone who has any information or any footage from the incident and who has not yet spoken with police to make contact with us.

An investigation is continuing after a man was found with stab wound injuries following an incident in Gipsy Lane, Leicester, yesterday evening (Monday).

Officers were called to the area at 9.18pm following a report that a person had been stabbed.


Police attended the scene where the injured man was found. East Midlands Ambulance Service were also in attendance at the scene and the man was taken to hospital.


It has since been confirmed that the man’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing and he has been discharged from hospital.


A 42-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of wounding. They currently remain in police custody.


The incident is being treated as an isolated incident. It is not being treated as linked to any other incident at this stage.


A cordon was in place at the scene following the incident for initial enquiries to be carried out. The cordon has now been removed and the investigation remains ongoing.


Detectives continue to appeal to anyone with any information to make contact.

“We continue to work to establish the full circumstances of this incident and officers have been carrying out enquiries including speaking with witnesses, analysing CCTV and examining the scene.


“As mentioned previously, we know that a number of people were at the scene at the time of the incident and understand a number of people may have recorded footage.


“If you have any information or footage from the incident and have not yet spoken with us, then please make contact with us.


“Similarly, if you have any CCTV or dashcam footage from the area at the time, please check this and get in touch.”
