Man charged in connection with A46 collision

A 26-year-old man has been charged following a collision on the A46 yesterday morning (Monday 29 June).
Niks Rogacs, of Acacia Close, Leicester, has been charged with the following offences and is due to appear at Leicester Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday):
One count of causing serious injury by dangerous driving
One count of theft of a motor vehicle
One count of using a motor vehicle on a road/public place without third party insurance
The charges relate to a collision involving a Mercedes van and BMW 1 Series. The driver of the BMW remains in hospital in a stable condition.
Following the collision, the force’s Professional Standards Department was informed, and the incident has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
