Diwali came to life in Leicester
Thousands of visitors enjoyed the famous Golden Mile, where the Leicester’s Diwali lights and the wheel of light dazzled the visitors.
The main celebrations took place in and around the Golden Mile, with a packed programme of entertainment, food and cultural experiences throughout the day.
Cossington Recreation Ground was full of live performances, featuring the Aakash Odedra Company and the Philharmonia Orchestra, together with a striking laser display, the impressive Heliosphere installation and additional attractions.
The popular Diwali Village had on offer a wide range of South Asian food and drinks, while Billy Bates Funfair provided family-friendly entertainment throughout the day.
Leicester’s Diwali festivities are famous the world over, bringing the local South Asian community together to celebrate the festival of light with the wider population.
