Leicester fell silent for Sunday Remembrance commemorations
The Service of Remembrance took place this morning at the Arch of Remembrance in Victoria Park. It started with a military parade, leaving De Montfort Hall, and was led by the Seaforth Highlanders Pipes and Drums.

The Last Post was played just ahead of the two-minute silence at 11 am, followed by a lament, played by a piper from the Seaforth Highlanders.
Official wreaths were laid by the Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire, Colonel Richard Hurwood DL; the Lord Mayor of Leicester, Cllr Kulwinder Singh Johal; and Commander Andrew Platt from HMS Daring, Leicester and Leicestershire’s affiliated naval ship.

Wreaths were also laid by representatives of local emergency services, military units, and faith communities. Other organizations and veterans’ associations laid wreaths immediately afterward, with members of the public also laying wreaths at the end of the service.
