A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an incident in January in which a Leicestershire Police officer was struck by a car. The incident happened shortly after 3.10pm on Monday 26 January in High Street, Oakham. Two officers approached a grey Honda CRV that was illegally parked when the driver of the car, a man, is reported to have refused to engage and driven towards one of the officers. This morning an extended police cordon remains at a Glenfield address. Armed police attended last night in connection with two recent firearm offences in Leicestershire. This lunchtime forensic officers are searching the front garden while a specialised police dog unit is also present. A driver has died following a fatal road traffic collision in Shepshed. Police received a call at around 1.10am this morning Wednesday (10 June) regarding the collision on the A512 Ashby Road West near Shepshed. The collision involved a green Ford Fiesta and a white HGV.
