Detectives are investigating a report of a firearms discharge in Newbold Verdon last night. Officers were called to an address in Brascote Lane shortly before 10.40pm on Tuesday (9 June) following a report that gunshots had been heard. In the interest of public and police safety, armed officers were deployed. On arrival at the scene, damage was found to have been caused to a property and a car parked on the driveway which were consistent with a firearm having been discharged.

A Police cordon is in place in a Leicestershire village following a reported shooting last night. Residents in the area reportedly heard three gunshots at 10.29pm yesterday evening. Information is being sought by Police officers following a serious collision in Groby yesterday (Thursday 4 June). Police were called to Oaktree Close just after 2.20pm following a report a motorcycle had collided with a pedestrian and then left the scene. The pedestrian, a woman in her 90s, was taken to hospital for treatment. She remains in a critical condition. Enquiries to identify the motorcycle and locate the rider are continuing. No arrests have been made at this time.

Armed police are currently in Shepshed supported by Leicestershire Fire and Rescue service and East Midlands ambulance service. The police drone team is also deployed.
