Jewellers raided on the Golden Mile in Leicester

Police have placed a cordon around a Jewellers shop in Belgrave this afternoon.


Police have released the following statement and appeal.



An investigation has been launched following a burglary at a premises in Belgrave Road, Leicester, this afternoon (Wednesday).


Police received a call at 3.05pm reporting that a number of men had smashed a window at the premises before stealing items of jewellery from a window display.


The suspects then left the scene.


The suspects did not enter the premises and no injuries have been reported.


Initial enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident and to find the people responsible.


Detective Inspector Charles Edwards said: “Our enquiries are at a very early stage but we have officers at the scene carrying out a full investigation.


“This includes checking CCTV and speaking to witnesses.


“We are appealing to anyone with any information to make contact with us. If you have any CCTV or dashcam footage from the area this afternoon, please also make contact with us.


“We understand this incident will have caused some concern but please be reassured we are carrying out full enquiries to find those responsible.


Please know that we also have officers at the scene to offer reassurance and to speak with you regarding your concerns.”
