Man charged after sword seen in Western Park

A Plastic sword was found at the scene
Firearms officers were deployed to a car park in Western Park yesterday (Monday 29 April) following a report of a man seen with a sword.
“A 33-year-old man has been charged after firearms officers were deployed to Western Park.
Igors Jefremovs, of no fixed address, has been charged with one count of possession of a bladed article in a public place and one count of possession of a class B drug.
He will appear at Leicester Magistrates’ Court on 17 May.
The charges relate to an incident yesterday morning (Monday 29 April) when, in the interest of public and officer safety, firearms officers attended a car park in Western Park, Hinckley Road following a report of a man seen with a sword.
Officers recovered the sword which turned out to be a plastic toy. “
