  • Another Police Pursuit gone wrong

    Today here in Leicester another Road traffic collision on Gipsy Lane this afternoon, caused after the Police authorised chase. Three innocent people injured. A police pursuit had been authorised shortly before a suspected stolen vehicle collided with a Volvo in Leicester this afternoon. It happened on Victoria Road East in Leicester at around 12:30 this afternoon and the road remains closed. Three people from the Volvo have been taken to hospital but their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. The vehicle which it collided with was believed to be stolen and officers, supported by a helicopter, spotted it near the crash site. It failed to stop and then crashed. An investigation into the circumstances is now under way. A 20-year-old Leicester man has been arrested on suspicion of theft of motor vehicle and remains in police custody. Picture By Leicester Media Police have Release the following statement. Motorists are being advised to avoid Victoria Road East in Leicester following a collision this afternoon (Tuesday 29 January). A vehicle believed to be stolen was seen by officers in the Stocking Farm area earlier today. The National Police Air Support (NPAS) unit were deployed to assist officers on the ground and the vehicle was located in the Gypsy Lane area of Leicester. The suspect vehicle failed to stop for officers and was then involved in a collision with a Volvo just after 12.30pm. Three people in the Volvo sustained injuries not believed to be life threatening and have been taken to hospital for treatment. A 20-year-old Leicester man has been arrested on suspicion of theft of motor vehicle and remain in police custody.   • 15,000 jobs could go at Tesco

    Tesco Britain’s largest supermarket chain has triggered the painful review after one of the toughest Christmas trading periods on record. Tesco will reportedly axe 15,000 jobs as part of a £1.5bn cost-saving measure. The supermarket chain will also close its meat, fish and delicatessen counters, according to the Mail on Sunday. The paper claims in-store bakeries will also be overhauled, with fresh dough replaced with frozen dough. The plans are expected to affect the majority of Tesco’s 732 larger stores. Our large Tesco stores in Leicester which could be affected by the plans, are Hamilton, Beaumont Leys, Wigston and Narborough Road. Monday 29/01/19.   • Pedestrian dead after being hit by Car in Oadby Leicester.

    Pedestrian died after being hit by Car in the early hours of this morning. The pedestrian was a student at Leicester University. On a twitter feed this afternoon Leicester University tweeted “With great sadness, we can confirm that one of our students died in the incident in Oadby last night. Our thoughts are with their family and friends at this difficult time. We are working with Leicestershire Police and currently supporting all of those affected” Video by Leicester Media Police statement Released. “Shortly after 12.30am today (Saturday 19 January) officers became aware of a suspect vehicle in Stoughton Drive South, Oadby. The vehicle failed to stop for police and in making off from the scene, was in collision with a pedestrian. Officers stopped to attend to the pedestrian and the East Midlands Ambulance Service was also called. However the pedestrian was pronounced dead a short time later. Immediate enquiries led police to identify a suspect and a 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving. He remains in custody and enquiries are ongoing. A mandatory referral has been made to the IOPC. The incident happened in Stoughton Drive South at around 12.30am on Saturday (19 January). The pedestrian – 18-year-old Paul Radcliffe of Leicester - died as a result of the collision, which involved a black Mercedes S350. A 30-year-old man from Leicester was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and causing death by dangerous driving. He was later released on conditional bail. Detective Constable John Borlase, from Leicestershire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU), is continuing to investigate the collision. He said: “Our enquiries to date have led us to believe that Paul was on his way to catch a bus into Leicester with friends. “I am still asking anyone who was driving along Stoughton Drive South around the time of the collision to come forward. We are particularly keen to speak to taxi drivers or delivery drivers who may have been in the area and who have dashcams installed in their vehicles. “I’d ask those drivers to check their cameras if they haven’t already done so for any footage that could help with our investigation. “Likewise I’d also ask for anyone who saw the collision occur or who saw the black Mercedes prior to the collision to come forward if they have not already done so.” As the Mercedes had failed to stop for police prior to the collision occurring and due to the proximity of the car to police vehicles, a mandatory referral was made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC). They have begun an independent investigation.

We Believe No one was injured during this incident, and that the suspect has been arrested. The First chase was in Oadby around 12.30am where a Student died after being hit by Car.     On saturday the 27th of October, our beloved chairman and 4 other people lost their lives in a horrendous accident. It was Leicester's darkest day. To remember them all and in particular our much loved Chairman, we want to walk en-mass from the City centre to the King Power stadium prior to the Burnley match. Leicester City FC famously won the title, 5000-1. Lets have at least 5000 Leicester fans walk in unity to show the world just how much we are grieving from the loss of such a wonderful man. So today Thousands walked from Jubilee Square to the King Power stadium, and today they walked and tomorrow and forever they will remember the great man THE BOSS. No information on any injuries News update Incident at King Power Stadium Helicopter crash at the LCFC Police released statement. “Emergency services are currently dealing with an incident at the King Power Stadium, in Leicester, after an aircraft came down in a car park behind the ground earlier this evening. “Officers are working alongside the ambulance service, Leicester Fire and Rescue Service, the Air Accident Investigation Branch and Leicester City Football Club to establish the exact circumstances of the collision. Further updates will be issued in due course. Update New Air Accident Investigation Branch lead enquiry into helicopter crash Updated on 28/10/18 at 2:32 a.m. The Air Accident Investigation Branch will now be leading an investigation into the circumstances of a helicopter crash at the King Power Stadium. The aircraft came down in a car park near the stadium shortly after 8.30pm yesterday evening (Saturday 27 October) with Leicestershire Police, East Midlands Ambulance Service and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service all responding to the incident. A cordon is currently in place at the scene to enable the AAIB to examine the area and complete their initial enquiries. Leicestershire Police will be supporting the AAIB in its investigation, liaising closely with Leicester City Football Club as enquiries continue. UPDATE Police statement 28/10/18 King Power Stadium incident Five believed dead. Issued on 28/10/18 at 10:00 p.m. Five people are believed to have died when a helicopter crashed outside the King Power Stadium yesterday evening (Saturday 27 October). The five people were on board the helicopter when the incident happened. While formal identification has not yet taken place, they are believed to be Leicester City Football Club chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, two members of his staff, Nursara Suknamai and Kaveporn Punpare, pilot Eric Swaffer and passenger Izabela Roza Lechowicz. The force has been working to ensure that all the relevant next of kin had been informed prior to this information being confirmed publicly. The aircraft came down in a car park near the stadium shortly after 8.30pm with Leicestershire Police, East Midlands Ambulance Service and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service all responding to the incident. No one else is believed to have been injured. The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) is leading the investigation into the accident and a cordon remains in place at the scene while enquiries continue. Leicestershire Police will be supporting the AAIB in its investigation, liaising closely with Leicester City Football Club as enquiries continue. Superintendent Steve Potter said: “This is an incredibly tragic incident in which five people are understood have lost their lives. “Emergency services were immediately on scene when the crash happened, working to put out the fire and gain access to the helicopter in attempts to reach those inside. Despite those efforts, there were no survivors. “The AAIB is now leading an investigation to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the crash and investigators will remain at the scene to complete their initial enquiries. It is likely to take several days to fully complete the necessary work and to safely deal with the scene of this tragic accident, during that time we ask that both the media and public resist speculating around the cause of the crash. “We appreciate that both the public and media were keen to be updated on the circumstances and to confirm if those on board the helicopter had survived, but before any detail could be issued publicly, it was vital that all immediate next of kin were informed of the tragic outcome. As our communities will understand, this was a matter that needed to be handled sensitively and with dignity, with the families of the deceased being at the heart of our response, which involved other agencies. “Our thoughts today are with the families of those who have sadly died, with Leicester City Football Club, and with both football supporters and the wider local community who have all been impacted by the events of last night and the news that those on board the aircraft have not survived.” The AAIB and Leicestershire Police are asking that anyone who witnessed the crash to call 101 quoting incident number 546 of 28 October 2018.     The University of Leicester Running and Athletics club Pride Colour Run returned for it's fourth year. Today was the return of the Pride Colour Run hosted by the University of Leicester Running and Athletics Club on Victoria Park in Leicester This colour run has been a fantastic and popular part of the freshers calendar for pass three years, it is enjoyed by students and locals! Hundreds of runners showed their pride, or support for the cause of equality for all by taking part in this colourful and lighthearted event in the middle of Leicester. by Walking, running, or jogging the 5 km course to help raise awareness for LGBTQ+ equality and acceptance. The run Started near the Arch of Remembrance, the course consisted of two laps of Victoria Park, with 6 paint stations per lap, the runners got completely covered in colour.
