Large Fire could burn for days in Saltby near Melton

Tonnes of straw and Old car tyres burn in Large Fire, Saltby near Melton Mowbray.

Fire started early evening (Tuesday 19th March) around 5.30pm and is still burning. Large black clouds of smoke could be seen for miles in surrounding villages.

Fire service is using water tanker unit to Ferry the water to the Seat of the fire.

The Fire could burn for days, the fire service is still at the site today.

Eight crews of firefighters from three county fire services battled with a large fire, crews from Birstall and Shepshed, Loughborough along with support from Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire
